Here’s what Candida Royalle has to say about her Femme Productions:

I started FEMME PRODUCTIONS in 1984 in order to give adult movies a woman’s voice and something couples could view together. Up until then, the concept of couples movies was unheard of, and most of the distributors told me women were not interested…which just made me really want to prove them wrong! As of early 2007, I’ve produced 18 movies, and directed 13 of them.

While Candida is not the only one to produce ertoic movies with women in mind, she certainly was the first.
